Great sadness this week when cheeky chappie Chris Turner handed his resignation in. Chris has been with us since we bought him from white slave traders in 1998 and his decision to chose teaching as a profession (teaching now incidentally being regarded as the third most dangerous activity after one, patrolling in Helmand Province and two taking on Adrian Fuller in any competitive sport) Anyone who has passed a secondary school at chucking out time will have experienced this …it’s the wildebeest stampede in Disney’s the Lion King meets Braveheart. Chris is driven by a self less desire to improve the lot of others, to bring education to the masses, to bring hope where there is despair, harmony where there is discord, faith where there is doubt, fish where there are chips, curry where there is rice and ying where there is yang…and also by the prospect of 13 weeks paid holiday a year, instead of the 48 he has at Simmal…year three pupils from Bamber Bridge Technology College are pictured left celebrating Chris’s decision.
